Some Time Away

Some time away was just what we needed, and this weekend was the perfect retreat. Steve and I joined our small group in Hood Canal, at the cabin (really a large house!) of our friend Tessa. It's amazing how everything on your mind fades away with some good sleep, good coffee, a little bit of sun, and great conversation.

I think one of my favorite things in the entire world is sleeping in and eating a homemade breakfast with freshly brewed coffee.

Steve and Steve worked behind the stove while everyone else just did whatever they pleased. There were no plans, and that was perfect.

In the afternoon, a few of the girls walked down the hill to the beach. We took photos (I love this one of Tina--her baby girl is growing!) and watched Steve and Patrick do funny things like play baseball with oyster shells.

Dinner was amazing. Salmon, chicken, salad, and fresh oysters, mussels, and clams from the beach. After dinner we played catchphrase...and I can't remember who won...
I don't know why I don't have any photos of dessert, but it was yummy too.

This morning we drank cups and cups of coffee, and ate pancakes. This is the life.

After breakfast, Steve and I led Bible study. Then, reluctantly, we packed up, took a group photo (aka "class picture") and headed home. I am so thankful to be a part of this group. Each couple, and each individual inspires me in their own way. I'm looking forward to many more great times together.

And would you believe that we saw this on the freeway on our way home? Ridiculous. ;)
