A Shower for Kelsey

One of my long time friends (since 1st grade!) is getting married this December in the wintry wonderland of Leavenworth.  But since her big day will be filled with snowflakes and pine trees, we decided to throw her a summery Farmer's Market bridal shower this July.  Kelsey and her fiancĂ©, Joe's first date was at Pike Place Market, so co-host Kiley and I decided to use the Seattle icon for inspiration.
We had some help from some of the guests, who brought fresh baked pies and different kinds of cheeses.  We used stained wine crates (from my sister's wedding) for some height, and set the table with flowers from the neighborhood market, fresh produce, fruit, and Mighty-O donuts (easier than going down to the market for the signature fried donuts).
Kelsey's mom brought photos of Kelsey growing up (isn't she the cutest!) and we asked guests to write a message or piece of advice for Kelsey in a pretty notebook.
For favors, we gave out flowers in little vases.
Kelsey also opened some amazing gifts.
One was a handmade quilt from our friend Anna and her mom.  Anna's mom makes the most beautiful quilts, and the designs are always so thoughtful and personal.  This one featured Kelsey's favorite color (emerald green) and a design that looked like a forest of trees.
We had so much fun celebrating Kelsey, and since we hardly ever get to see each other (she lives in Iowa where she is in medical school), it was such a treat to spend time with her.
In fact, it felt like a mini reunion, since many of us have been friends since elementary school.  Here we are with our moms, who used to cheer us on during our rec soccer days, when many of us were teammates (we were "the Ladybugs" and then "the Roadrunners"). :)
We love you Kelsey and could not be more excited for you to marry the man of your dreams!  You are going to be the most beautiful bride!

A Shower for Katie Joy

Last weekend our ladies small group hosted a shower for our sweet friend, Katie Joy.  Taking cues from Katie's Joy's nursery colors and the beginning of spring, we planned a Tiffany blue tea shower.  The sunny weather was an added plus!
We used all things blue, but kept things feminine with lots of bows, ribbons, lace and doilies.
The menu consisted of a generous selection of tea sandwiches, salads, mini desserts, fruit, crackers and cheese.  The sandwiches (made by Tessa) were especially delicious!
Of course there was also tea--lots of tea--as well as lemonade and sparkling water.  Every one (except me I think) brought their favorite teacups.  I loved the way they all looked together!
We had a great time chatting, playing a few little games, and cuddling the two babies in attendance.
Katie Joy received some great gifts for her little girl who will be named Annika Mae.  She is destined to be a girly girl like her mom. :)
Planning and spending time together for Katie Joy's shower was really a blessing.  It's amazing to think that pretty soon there will be a new little life in the world.  We're excited to meet you Annika Mae!

Tina's Shower

A few weeks ago we had the pleasure of throwing a baby shower for Tina, who is expecting her second little girl in less than a month.  We decided on a button/handmade theme, but mostly filled Ginger's house with some of our favorite things: burlap, flowers, mason jars, and paper straws.  It was a beautiful sunny, Seattle day.
We enjoyed lemonade, quiche, a pear tart, fruit, cupcakes (with fondant buttons) and Oreo "pops," made by Ginger.
Ginger and little Julianne were such gracious hosts. :)  We spent most of the time eating, watching Tina open gifts, and decorating onesies (which is becoming a tradition at these showers).
Tina's sister, niece and mom were able to join us.  And guests took home crocheted coasters (inspired by favors I received at a friend's birthday party) :)
This is such an exciting time for the ladies in our small group.  Three babies on the way this summer!  Here we are in the classic holding our bellies pose. :)
We love you Tina, and can't wait to meet Baby Girl Dekoker.
